Choose the location around everyday use
A larger plot does not make every position equally suitable. Consider morning and evening sun, garden access and views from existing rooms. Include parking, outbuildings, trees and maintenance space.
Attached extension or separate building?
An attached extension enlarges the house through a direct connection. A detached unit stands separately and needs its own access and services. Compare daily use, privacy, distance and the rules for the address.
Transport access still needs assessment
Check gates, the driveway, load capacity of paving and installation space. Coordinate roof and floor levels with the existing home. Added space does not automatically produce a fixed value increase; use the value module only for scenarios.

Compare two locations with the same area
Draw the same added area on two sides of the house. Compare shorter routes from a side extension with garden access from a rear extension. Check views from existing windows: a new wall may block a valued outlook. The largest free space is not necessarily the best site.
