The garden remains part of the plan
A deeper extension uses more garden space. Include your terrace, planting, shed and paths in the drawing. This shows both what you gain and how the outdoor space will work.
A carefully designed connection
Have the existing wall, floor height, drainage and pipe routes assessed. Many design decisions meet where old and new connect.
Extend without losing sight of the garden
Mark out the new facade, patio and route to the back. A deeper living room may mean finding a new place for bicycles or garden tools. Consider which doors open on summer days and where you can sit sheltered. Include rainwater drainage and patio levels in the detailed design. Aim for a home and garden that work better together.
Draw the remaining garden just as carefully
Draw the garden table, shed door and bicycle route as well as the new facade. Check whether existing downpipes or drains fall under the extension. Include garden reinstatement in the work sequence to avoid reopening newly laid paving for a connection.
