Use the official Omgevingsloket permit check for the Netherlands. Enter the work and location carefully. The result may depend on the position on the plot, intended use and local rules. Keep the result with your project information.

Permit-free building still has requirements

Permit-free does not mean rule-free. The building must still meet applicable requirements. Technical assessment and the rules on location and use need separate attention.

Useful preparation

• The address and a plot drawing showing existing buildings.
• External dimensions, height and position of the new building.
• Intended use, such as living space, office or family care.
• Photographs and information about existing structures.
• Attention to boundaries, neighbours and any special protection.

Make it part of the schedule

Agree who handles investigations, drawings and any application. Schedule production and installation around the required decisions and final assumptions, so technical preparation and permission stay aligned.

Check both aspects of building

Technical building activity and spatial planning activity are assessed separately in the Netherlands. An outcome for one does not automatically settle the other. Permit-exempt work must still meet applicable building rules. Use the exact address and design in the official permit check.
